GRAIN LAB RESTAURANT RENOVATION

A project visualized prior to the pandemic, but as we went into lockdown build began. A restaurant out of Burbank, focused on grain bowls and healthy salads were looking for a much-needed facelift after 7 years of the same interior. To match a low-cost but highly minimalist feel, we went with the designs below. Using simple pines and a DIY approach for time efficiency on manpower and labor we were able to complete the entire build with a small team. A few design changes had to exercise throughout the project vision such as the shelving and the back bathroom screen design, however, the improvisation led to an even more cost-effective approach.

THE “STAGE”

Do you know those claw-crane machines at arcades where you get the chance to win a stuffed animal? Imagine that on a much larger scale and a chance to win high-fashion clothing. I was asked to design a room sized version that will be place in open retail spaces and operated through a window from outside.

I’ve always had a passion for interior design and this idealistic dream of having multiple properties around the world to rent out/live in when I want. So began a little trial experiment with a very supportive friend that was willing to give it a shot as well. The proposal was to renovate his apartment for the chance to manage the space as a rental on Airbnb
